Patient Discharge Instructions

  1. It will be a few weeks before you obtain your previous energy level.  So continue to get extra rest during this period of time.

  2. Good nutritional intake is still essential.  Be sure to maintain a properly balanced diet, whether it is three regular meals a day, numerous smaller meals throughout the day, or tube feeding.  Monitor your weight to make sure there is no unwanted or unexpected weight loss.

  3. Now that you have completed treatment, your marks are no longer needed.  Do not try to scrub them off.  Let them wear off over the next few days, especially if the marks are in your treatment area.

  4. Air exposure will allow your skin to heal quicker, so continue to wear loose fitting clothing over your treatment area for the next few weeks.

  5. Gentle care of your skin is still necessary.  You may gently wash with a mild soap in the treatment area.  Try to avoid rubbing or scrubbing in the area of the skin that was treated.  Do not wear clothing made of materials that might be irritating to the skin until it is healed.  Continue to avoid cosmetics, perfumes, deodorants, etc. in the treatment area until your skin has had a chance to completely heal.

  6. The use of heating pads, ice packs and soaking in hot water are not advised.

  7. If your treatment area is in a location where you normally shave, continue to use an electric shaver until your skin heals.

  8. Your treatment area will always be more sensitive to the sun than the rest of your body.  Protect it from the sun with sunscreen and/or clothing.

  9. Remember to ask any questions you may have about medications, skin care, follow-up appointments, etc.

  10. Please call if you have any questions or concerns.
